Approximately five shots had been fired out of a guest room in Honolulu, authorities said.

A man who barricaded himself in a Honolulu hotel room after allegedly shooting multiple shots has expired out of a self-inflicted gunshot wound,” officials said.

Based on KITV, Lynch stated about five shots had been fired by a guest living room on the fourth floor of the resort and that resort safety reacted as the defendant allegedly shot through the room’s doorway.

Lynch explained that 18 police officers responded to the scene and promptly evacuated the adjoining chambers and all guests that had been on the fourth floor. The 911 call came in about 5:40 p.m. Saturday.

The defendant has been alone in the area, Lynch explained. He might have had family staying with himaccording to Lynch.

After SWAT officers made entry to the hotel room around 3:30 a.m., they discovered the defendant dead from a self-inflicted gunshot wound, according to the Honolulu Police Department.

Attempted murder and reckless threatening cases are opened, authorities said.

The suspect is thought to be in the army and could happen to be stationed on Oahu, KITV reported.

The Kahala Hotel & Resort published a statement about the shooting.

“Our security staff and law enforcement have evacuated employees and guests from the immediate region and everybody is sheltering in place. We request the public refrain from getting into the region surrounding the resort currently. We’ll provide additional updates as they become available”
