Guy Vallancien in Chamonix, September 27, 2019. VALENTIN FLAURAUD / CHAM
Questioned by some of his peers, Professor Guy Vallancien, a urologist, announced Thursday, October 7 to Agence France-Presse (AFP) his withdrawal from the commission on conspiracy and disinformation created recently by Emmanuel Macron.
“I am withdrawing from the commission Les Lumières à l’époque numérique”, declared the M. Vallancien, who denounces a “shameful campaign of despicable and false denigration” after his appointment to this body composed of fifteen academics and personalities, and chaired by the sociologist Gérald Bronner. The latter confirmed the departure of Professor Vallancien, who confided:
“It was I who decided to leave and I said it at the Elysée. I could have stayed, but it would have created conflicts within the commission, which is not healthy. There was no good solution, but I took the one that seemed to me the freest and most honest ”
“Denied the gravity” of the Mediator’s case
This renowned urologist who treated former President François Mitterrand had just been implicated by the pulmonologist and whistleblower Irène Frachon, who reproaches him for having “denied the gravity” of the Mediator’s case.
In an op-ed published in Le Monde at the end of September, Ms. Frachon wrote in particular: “Professor and urologist Guy Vallancien (…) has been one of the spearheads of a nebula of high-ranking doctors, professors of medicine, sometimes academicians of medicine, who, for years and shamelessly, have been trying to discredit, minimize, even deny the gravity of the human drama caused by the Mediator. ”
His name is also cited by L’Express in the scandal of the centre du don des corps de l’Université Paris-Descartes. The magazine had mentioned its role and that of its limited company (the European School of Surgery, created in 2001 within the university). “This is the most difficult for me”, because “I have no responsibility” in this matter, Mr. Vallancien reacted.
