Local officials say seven Chicago firefighters sustained injuries while responding to a South Side fire in a residential area. They are expected to be fully recovered.

Chicago Fire Department (CFD), District 5 Chief Daniel Torrise spoke with reporters Saturday. He said that there was no way to determine the cause of the fire that occurred in Roseland at 112th Place and Princeton, and that it injured first responders.
“This is what our company does. Torrise said to reporters that they are okay and will continue moving forward. “We’re gonna regroup…”

Seven firefighters sustained non-life-threatening injuries after the fire.

Annette Nance–Holt, Fire Commissioner, stated to reporters that there was likely a flashover which caused four firefighters to be evacuated from their porches while three others were inside the house. Three firefighters who were present at the time managed to escape the house.
Nance-Holt confirmed that there weren’t working smoke detectors in the home. According to Chicago’s
Fox32 news, the firefighters suffered minor burns.
Torrise also confirmed to reporters that there was a resident at the address. She informed firefighters on the scene that everyone had left the house.
