Cruz said that Cruz was witnessing the worst military conflict in Europe since World War II. It is devastating, and I fear it will get worse before it gets better. It is disappointing that this is happening now could have been avoided. Russia’s invasion of Ukraine is due to two mistakes made by the Biden administration.

Cruz was specifically interviewed by Costa at Florida’s Conservative Political Action Conference. He claimed that the president’s decision last summer to withdraw U.S troops from Afghanistan made the Oval Office appear weaker to America’s enemies. He also cited the president’s decision to lift sanctions on Nord Stream 2, which would transport natural gas from Russia to Germany. Russia long desired to rebuild the Soviet Union. But Cruz claimed that recent Biden administration actions made it easier.

He stated that President Biden had made a political decision, to give up on Putin and to lift sanctions on Nord Stream 2’s pipeline. This was what has facilitated the invasion.

Last year, Mr. Biden lifted the sanctions against Nord Stream 2, and Cruz put a stop on the nominees to the State Department until this week. The president imposed severe sanctions on the company that built the pipeline and its leader. Despite international pressure, Germany had earlier this week announced that it would stop Nord Stream 2, but Cruz argued Russia must be assured the pipeline will not be used.

Russia must believe they won’t be able to transport their gas to Europe if it continues its invasion. This will stop the invasion. The only way to stop the invasion is to impose sanctions. Joe Biden did this, but Putin doesn’t think those sanctions will remain,” Cruz stated.

Cruz stated that “there may not be anything” to stop Putin’s invasion at the moment.

Cruz stated that sanctions should include all tools we have and added that American troops shouldn’t be fighting Russians in Ukraine.

Cruz declined to criticize Trump’s recent comments about Russia and Putin. In a radio interview with the “The Clay Travis & Buck Sexton Show”, Trump called Putin “smart”. This was after the speech of the Russian president in which he explained why Russia had entered Ukraine. “I said, ‘This is genius. Putin declares large parts of Ukraine to be Ukrainian. Putin declares it independent. Oh, that’s wonderful. Now Putin says it’s independent. This is a large part of Ukraine. I replied, “How smart is this?” He’s going in to be a peacekeeper.”

Cruz stated that Trump’s rhetoric was something he disagreed with “with some regularity,” but added that Trump is superior to Biden when it comes Russia-related policies.
