The day a black queen appeared in The Bridgertons, it seemed that we were going to rewrite the history of humanity. An alternative history in which there were no differences in color, and the dukes and sovereigns could have dark skin. The servants, too, a detail in which we have not dwelled so much and it is the one that could make the difference: already set to improve the species by eliminating racism, Hollywood progressivism could have shown a more egalitarian society in which nobody had to serve anyone, or at least not at those levels and with such abysmal inequalities, but it seems that this is secondary. Even for the left. Ethnic group, culture, gender and singular and plural number, everything you want, but with things to eat, money and its distribution, power, is not played.
There are many realities and they go through neighborhoods, we just had an example with Chanel, vilified by progressivism, with rare exceptions, who now congratulates her, without exception. Did no one think that reggaeton is part of the culture of thousands of people in our country? The same thing is that diversity also goes by neighborhoods, and some are more diverse than others and are more in line with what we want to appear and you understand me.
Now that the issue of painful rules is being debated in Congress, and it is a good thing that it is being done, I remember an article by an American doctor in which he said he felt strange every time he referred to “people who menstruate” so as not to offend anyone citing only women. The acrobatics that must be done to avoid disturbing or being singled out are not even surpassed by Chanel herself on stage. Sometimes I think that if Marx raised his head, he would not substitute religion for the tribe as the opium of the people, but would simply say that we have what we deserve, that is, Twitter followers but not a house of our own or a good salary, not even one acceptable, nor all those benefits for which we used to break our horns and now turn us into retrogrades that do not adapt to modernity. It is easier to change words than economic structures and that is what we are left with.
Back, not a step: there are other lefts.
