The fifth edition of The Champions Burger, the well-known gastronomic festival in which the public chooses the Best Burger in Spain through their votes, landed on Wednesday in the Plaza de l’Univers de Fira de Barcelona, ??where more than 25 establishments – a closed group and a representation of local hamburger restaurants – will compete until next May 26 to earn a place in the national final to be held in the fall.
Asado Burgers, Folk, La Burguesa, The Ranch Smoke House Double Bière, Acero, El Surtidor and Soda Bus are some of the Barcelona hamburger restaurants that participate in the contest offering their original proposals to the attendees, such as La Manuela, from SodaBus, based potato brioche, organic beef rested for two weeks, caramelized onion with ratafia, smoked provolone, bacon jam, chistorra mayonnaise and pork rinds; or the Juana la Cubana, from Double Bière, with old beef aged for fifty days, Monterrey cheese, wood-fired pork, caramelized peanuts and habanera sauce.
Also present with their food trucks are another 11 hamburger restaurants from various Spanish provinces –Soul Coffee Beer, Gottan, Circo, El Tarantín Chiflado, Vacarnal, The Berty’s, Nola Smoke, Umbrella, Torriko, Guinness Burger and Moflete–, which will be unveiled next Saturday the 26th. whether or not they advance to the state final.
After Barcelona, ??and after having been to Murcia, Córdoba, Alicante, Zaragoza and Madrid, The Champions Burger will travel to Seville, Valencia and San Sebastián, among others, to continue searching for the final candidates. To accompany the burgers in Barcelona, ??the Cheeck’s food truck serves fried chicken and Ybarra Truck fries. Those with a sweet tooth also have dessert, since the Ioan pastry shop offers donuts and Las Torres de Ciriaco cheesecakes.
In addition, the Hall of Burger has been installed in Plaça de l’Univers these days, where the restaurants La Muralla and Jenkin’s, which won the title of Best Burger in Spain and Best Burger in Europe, respectively, in 2023, They offer the creations that earned them the award. You cannot vote for these burgers and they will go directly to participate in the European final. In this area there is also Moflete, local of the renowned YouTuber Joe Burger; the Guinness Burger food truck, with the gourmet proposal of Eneko Fernández, winner of the MasterChef 11 program; and The Pirate’s Kitchen, by YouTuber Sergio Enciso.
Entry to the venue to try the hamburgers is free and the voting system, very simple, will be the same throughout the championship: the user only has to taste the hamburger, scan the QR code printed on the ticket they are given when voting. order and evaluate it.
In this new edition of The Campions Burguers, the number of cities in which this gastronomic tour stops has doubled. Last year, almost a million attendees were encouraged to try the recipes of some 70 hamburger restaurants.
