Three vaccines against Covid-19 infection have been approved for emergency use. Every day, thousands of people get vaccinated. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention reported that hundreds of millions have been administered and that people are now fully vaccinated.

The first FDA approved a two-dose vaccine for emergency use. It was developed by Pfizer, a U.S. pharmaceutical company, and BioNTech, a German medical firm. December 14, 2020 was the date of the first shipment. Moderna also developed a second vaccine that requires two doses. Vials began shipping vials for this vaccine on Dec. 20, 2020.

The FDA granted an emergency authorization on February 27, 2021 for Johnson & Johnson’s Janssen vaccine.
