Jennifer Hudson, who won the Tony for “A Strange Loop” in her production of “A Strange Loop”, achieved the rare status of EGOT on Sunday night.
People who have won Emmys, Grammys, Oscars, Tonys and Oscars during their careers as entertainment professionals are known by the awards term “EGOT”. Some notable figures who have won awards at all four bodies include Rita Moreno (and Alan Menken), Andrew Lloyd Webber (and John Legend), Mike Nichols, Mel Brooks, and Whoopi Goldberg.
Only 16 people in history have achieved an EGOT in competitive category categories before Sunday night’s Tony Awards. Hudson is now the 17th.
