This record is worthy of a queen.

Queen Elizabeth II, the head of the British royal family just became the second longest-reigning monarch in the history of the world.

The queen ruled the realm for 70+ years and 127 consecutive days since 1952 when she took the throne.

She has just exceeded the long reign of the former Thai King Bhumibol Abulyadej who ruled from 1946 to his death in 2016.

Louis XIV, the French King of France, remains at the top. He was born in four years and died in 1715.

It is not the first time Queen Elizabeth II (96) has broken a royal record.

In 2015 she became the longest reigning monarch in British history, exceeding the tenure of Queen Victoria, her great-great-grandmother.

“Inevitably, a long life will pass by many milestones aEUR”, my own is no exception. However, I am grateful to all of you and others in the country and abroad for your touching messages and great kindness,” she said.

The United Kingdom celebrated the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee. It marked seven decades of her reign.

Despite declining health, she made numerous appearances at the festivities.
