The U.S. has arrested a Costa Rican woman who is suspected of killing Anna Moriah Wilson, a professional cyclist from Texas. The Marshals Service announced Thursday.

The Marshals Service stated that Kaitlin Marie Armstrong (34), was taken into custody Wednesday at a hostel in Santa Teresa Beach, Provincia de Puntarenas. According to the Marshals Service, Armstrong was due to be returned to the United States where she is facing a murder charge.

U.S. Marshals Service raised the Kaitlin-Armstrong investigation to major case status in the early stages of this investigation. This likely played a crucial role in her capture following a 43-day run.” Susan Pamerleau, Marshal for Texas’ Western District.

Wilson, 25 years old, was found dead on May 11th. Austin police issued a warrant for Armstrong’s murder on May 19.

According to authorities, Armstrong sold her vehicle on May 13th and flew from Austin into Houston within minutes of being interrogated by authorities about Wilson’s death. The service stated that Armstrong flew to New York then used a fake passport to fly from Newark (New Jersey) to San Jose, Costa Rica on May 18.

Wilson, a Vermont native and a competitive mountain bike and gravel racer, was in Austin to attend a cycling event. An affidavit states that Wilson was previously acquainted with Colin Strickland (cyclist), who cooperates with investigators. He is not suspected.

According to the affidavit Armstrong’s SUV was captured on surveillance video outside Wilson’s home.
