The last two plenary sessions of the Consell to which Mónica Oltra submitted -one after the blow from the Prosecutor’s Office and the other, the day after her indictment by the TSJ- were marked by the incisive questions of the journalists about the judicial situation of the then vice president. Dozens of questions and forceful answers from the leader of Compromís with reproaches for the actions, above all, of the prosecutor, which raised political tension and left any legislative initiative of the Valencian executive in the background.

This Friday, the premiere of Aitana Mas as a spokesperson was calmer. There were up to 8 questions but not all on the same issue and most of them looking more to the future. Oltra’s substitute had some luck that her debut was in Benicàssim -on the occasion of the anniversary of the Statute of Autonomy- which caused less media presence.

All in all, it seems clear that, after Oltra’s resignation, the media pressure has decreased and the spotlights have dimmed after a few very difficult weeks for the Consell.

Political tension has also decreased considerably. In his intervention to account for the issues discussed in the plenary session of the Valencian Government, Mas insisted that his objective is the “stability” of the Botànic. In this sense, he stressed that this will be one of the issues that concern him and that he will promote. “For my part, we build bridges and seek the best possible relationship between the three forces,” he detailed.

However, at any moment the spark can jump. Asked about it, Mas advanced that her idea is to maintain the political commission that was set up last year to prepare the Budgets of the Generalitat Valenciana. The leader of Compromís, against the criteria expressed by the new Treasury Minister, Arcadi España, defended that she is in favor of “keeping things that work”.

He also indicated that he will have an upcoming meeting with the head of the Treasury: “It is extremely important that we set the times, especially the policies that we want to carry out, and that it be executed in the most pluralistic way possible.”
