Leon Brown, star of “Sister Wives”, came out publicly to be a transgender person in an emotional Instagram post on Tuesday.

The reality star, who is 26 years old, is the daughter of Meri Brown and Kody Brown. She opened up about her transition alongside a pair photos of themselves standing in front of a doorframe.

Brown wrote that someone recently suggested to me that I didn’t need to know all my s— in order to be able to share my experiences with the world. “So here I am, not having all of my s— figured, to let everyone know that i’m trans.”

They added, “My name is Leon or Leo (I love both), and my pronouns were they/them.”

Brown, who revealed that he was gay in Season 11 on TLC’s reality series, said they have known since childhood that they weren’t a girl.

“I remember the first time I realized i wasn’t a girl. I was very young and unfortunately, grew up in a restrictive, gendered environment. I was socialized as a girl and later as a woman. Here’s the truth: i am finally ready to share my favorite person with the world. They wrote that their self was incredibly transgender, genderqueer, and unapologetic.

Brown continued by saying that being “queer and trans” were “definitely some my favorite parts about myself.”

They wrote, “And yet, there are so much that i am learning about myself through this process.”

They added, “Here’s to me learning to know myself, sharing myself and continuously evolving to be the person I am, to become my favorite self in every context.”

Brown is Meri’s only child, and one of 18 children born to Meri’s plural marriage with Janelle Brown, Robyn Brown and Christine Brown. He said that they chose to make it public to “let people in” and “set some boundaries.”

“If you don’t want to use my proper name or pronouns, you can speak to me or about myself. My name is Leon or Leo, and my pronouns refer to them/them. They explained that they would only use this name for me.

Meri replied lovingly to the post of her child by sharing an image of it on her Instagram stories. Over the image, she wrote “You are my sunshine.”

To show their support, Leon received comments from fans.

“Proud to be true to yourself!” One wrote, “That’s a wonderful thing and very inspiring to many.”

Leon, thank you for your honesty and for allowing us to witness this journey with you,” added another.
