Foment del Treball once again brought together a broad representation of Catalan and Spanish society at the award ceremony for the institution’s Medals of Honor and the 15th edition of the Carles Ferrer Salat awards. The event coincided with Company Day, a initiative arising from the business organization to which the Generalitat has given its approval. On this occasion, it also served to put an end to the commemorative events of the 250th anniversary of Foment.

The great hall of the Drassanes de Barcelona was the scene of the event, which was attended by the two main authorities of the country, the President of the Generalitat, Pere Aragonès, and the President of the Parliament, Laura Borràs. Also present were Roger Torrent, Director of iTreball Company, and Jaume Collboni, First Deputy Mayor of Barcelona City Council. Josep Sánchez Llibre, President of Foment, stressed the importance of a Company Day as an opportunity to vindicate “entrepreneurs and entrepreneurs.” The leader of Catalan businessmen said that “without employers and without workers there is no social progress.”

Sánchez llibre expressed his conviction that “it is time to make a consistent common front” to get out of what he described as the “perfect storm” as best as possible. Looking ahead to 2023, he assured that “if we go hand in hand with unions, administration, Chamber of Commerce and Pimec, we businessmen will find the opportunities.”

Seven companies were awarded the Carles Ferrer Salat awards. The jury distinguished Noel for his social commitment. Joan Bosch, CEO of Noel, received the award from Maria Lluïsa Martínez, director of communication and institutional relations at CaixaBank. The award for innovation and new technologies went to Agromillora. Javier Sancho, director of the Tarragona Repsol industrial complex, presented the award to its president, Carlos Sumarroca.
