Pascual Zapater is a Gaudinian autodidact. In his house on Calle Circumvallación in the urbanization of Castell de la Ventosa de Piera, in Anoia, we make in Las Fotos de los Lectores de La Vanguardia a surprising discovery, a temple built by him using the modernist technique of trencadís, so characteristic of Antoni Gaudí’s works, like Park Güell.
Zapater was inspired by the famous modernist architect for the shapes of the catenary arches that surround this structure known as the Temple dels Homes. Although he did it based on the available materials and his own inventiveness.
As a result, he created an original construction with 40 square meters of windows and 30 square meters of interior space. It took Zapater five years to complete this work.
This unique construction is also known as the Temple of the Immortals and does not leave anyone indifferent who observes it from outside the property. But, if there is an opportunity to look inside it, one realizes the great amount of details.
Zapater decorated the structure with a style clearly linked to the trencadís technique in a set of mosaics that draws the attention of those who contemplate the temple from the outside and, above all, from the inside. Below, we can see some perspectives of this surprising work.
