Donatella Versace is one of those celebrities who can never be missing from a renowned event. The fashion designer, younger sister of Gianni Versace, is the current vice president of the Versace group, so it is common to see her at events related to the world of fashion or in photocalls at large events. In the last few hours, the head of design of one of the most recognized haute couture brands on the planet has reappeared at an event at the LGBT Center in Los Angeles and she has had a distressing moment when she was locked in an elevator.
The businesswoman was co-hosting the event with Dwyane Wade, however, her triumphant entry was delayed due to an elevator failure. A source tells TMZ that the elevator was full, and that the designer was trapped along with her assistant, her publicist, her security, Versace’s marketing person and PR head for about 10 or 15 minutes.
The aforementioned medium has managed to obtain images of the moment in which the businesswoman and her team were able to get out of the elevator after being trapped. The security team intervened to make everything an anecdote, prying the doors open with their own hands. Finally, Donatella managed to get out of it, looking a little dazed and confused around her.
The rest of her team left after her and close sources assure the outlet that everyone was left unharmed. Although the situation was resolved without any incident, the firefighters arrived at the scene to check that everything was in order shortly after and it seems that there were no major problems and that the situation was controlled, and the event continued normally. In it, Versace became named Global Ambassador of the Organization and also donated $50,000 to the center.
On the other hand, Donatella turned the situation into a charming anecdote during her speech to the audience present at the scene. “I feel very honored to be here tonight. It’s very emotional for me, but also because I got stuck in the elevator. I thought I would never make it to this rooftop, but I did!” joked the renowned designer.
As for Wade, the other big star of the night, he was there with his wife, Gabrielle Union, and their transgender daughter, Zaya Wade. During his speech, the basketball player said that he was by his daughter’s side and that he was using her voice very proudly to continue growing the community. The event was very emotional and Donatella’s incident only remained a funny anecdote to laugh at.
