Vocabulary of the imminent future

What current scientific and technological research trends are going to define the next decade? The cultural critic Jorge Carrión, a regular contributor to this supplement, has been the first resident writer at the Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya (within the UPCArts programme, which reinforces the link between culture and science and technology, both in university life and in the field of research). Thanks to this residence, Carrión has had access in recent months to researchers and professors, spaces and laboratories. From that experience, from various face-to-face interviews and email exchanges, comes this short vocabulary of some of the words that are going to explain our lives for the next decade and possibly the entire 21st century. A constellation of scientific and technological concepts, in dialogue with ethics and society, that set the agenda for a future that is already present.
