The atmosphere was that of great occasions, for various reasons. Antònia Font, one of the most beloved pop groups in Catalan, closed her brief new stage by filling the Palau Sant Jordi in what was her first performance at the secular temple of Montjuïc. They also did so by presenting a new album, Un minut stroboscopica, which is not out of tune among their classics. It was supposed, then, that it was the last occasion to be able to see them live, something that is not so clear that it is so and more so when at the end of their long-lived concert, two hours and a quarter and about 40 songs, before addressing the last song , “Viure sense tu”, the singer Pau Debon said “he hasn’t finished això, en veiem l’any que se”. A few words that suggest that at least they will continue to give the odd concert.

It is logical that this is the case because when they decided to leave it almost a decade ago, many of their fans had a hard time assimilating it. His songs are part of the sentimental heritage of several generations. It was very clear from minute one, despite a sound that left much to be desired in the first section of a high-octane emotional evening. Thus, the title of “Me sobren paraules” was almost literal since it was difficult to understand Debon’s distinctive voice, with a nod to Serrat in the lyrics included. At an instrumental level, Jaume Manresa stood out as a keyboard demiurge, either with the organ of “Love song”, the synthetic sound that dominated the half rapped “Oh la la” or the watery piano of the also new “Miquel Riera”. .

The atmosphere warmed up with the rescues of “Armando Rampas”, “Vitamina sol” and “Robot”, with the guitar crescendo of Joan Miquel Oliver and his grand finale. It was the ideal moment to play the mythical “Dins aquest igloo” and “Vos estim a tots equal”, chanted with enthusiasm. The nouveau tone of “Sol de taronges” was a downer, as was the distorted and rapped trance of the medley between “Punyeta món” and “Astronauta rimador”. The minimalist “Cartes de Ramiro”, with an a cappella introduction by Debon, gave way to the epic “Una daixona de pols”, followed by the tremulous “Caramel.let” and the trilingual irony of “Holidays”. The lightning moment of the digital age corresponded to “Amants perfectes” and a great apotheosis crowned “Tots es motors”.

The encore section was like a second part of the concert. The first of them featured ten emblematic songs, including the bittersweet and exotic “Bamboo”, an effervescent “Mecanismes”, with Oliver’s guitar winking at African music, the unbeatable “Batiscafo katiuscas”, the tribute to “Clint Eastwood”, an exultant “Icebergs i geisers”, the seminal “Alegria”, propitiating the great climax of the night, the suggestive “Alpinistes-samurais” and a false ending, with confetti included, favored by “Wa yeah !”. They came back to finish off the job by acknowledging that the concert “per nosaltres ha estat una fita”. And for her followers also because there was much more than joy in the confirmation that Antònia Font is the most decisive group in the history of pop sung in Catalan.
