The Provincial Court of Pontevedra has recently ratified a ruling issued by the Court of First Instance number 15 of Vigo, which establishes, among other issues, a ‘pension’ of 40 euros per month for the animal that they have in common charge after a divorce process.

Specifically, in the ruling, which also establishes conditions of custody and support for the children of the divorced couple, the judge determines that the marriage pet will be in the care of the woman and that both will pay “half of the expenses.” extraordinary and veterinary.

However, taking into account the man’s greater purchasing power, the ruling establishes that he “will contribute to the animal’s expenses with the sum of 40 euros per month”, an amount “updatable annually in accordance with the CPI.”

The original sentence dates back to February of last year, although it was confirmed at the end of 2023 by the Pontevedra Court after an appeal filed by the woman in relation to the shared custody regime of the couple’s children, as well as the use of a vehicle. .
