“Nothing is what it seems” is the title of the exhibition that the Catalan artist Madame Butterfly Bcn opens this Saturday in the Ocaña space in Barcelona’s Plaza Reial. She studied fashion design and pattern making and after many years dedicated exclusively to the textile world, the most creative part of her ended up prevailing, bringing out her most artistic facet through Madame Butterfly Bcn, the artistic name of Mar Mirabet.
Her latest work is a game of textures, styles and colors in which the artist warns that the world around us “we see and live” through our own filters, beliefs, prejudices and education. But in reality, she warns Madame Butterfly “nothing is what it seems” because “life ends up confusing us and we let ourselves be guided”. The artist immerses herself in this fun and sometimes evil game to directly invite the visitor to draw her own conclusions from each of the works on display. “Discover, think, analyze, observe and open up; and perhaps in the end, not even you will be what you seem”.
The exhibition has free admission and will remain until the end of November in the Plaça Reial room.
