Camilo Sesto’s fans are a little happier this Friday after Camilo Forever has come to light, an anthology that includes ten new songs and is presented as “the most complete retrospective.”
The new album is presented as a deluxe edition and includes a book and a total of 82 songs by the star, most of which have been playing on radio stations around the world for years, with the exception of this handful of songs, of which no one was aware. And it is that none of them had been presented before nor had they been presented in her authorized biography, My last song, made by her friend Elena Gómez de la Puerta. Hence the astonishment of her followers, who have not been slow to applaud the good news on social networks and describe it as a “hidden treasure”.
It was the producer Pepe Herrero who found all this material, found among the tapes of the Alcoy recording sessions. A finding that he considers “as exciting as finding treasures in Egyptian tombs”, as collected by Sony. One of these songs is Te quiero así, which the artist made for the album Amaneciendo (1980) and which was released two years ago as a preview of this compilation, proof that it has been a long-term project. It is also included in the Pobre mundo anthology, recorded while preparing the album Agenda de baile (1986).
In addition to the material already mentioned, Camilo Forever has other rarities and curiosities, such as a version of Pérdoname, one of his most popular songs, although this time somewhat shorter and more sober in instrumentation.
Born in Alcoy in 1946, the artist became one of the most valued Spanish authors and performers in the world, especially in the 1970s, a time when he sold 13 million records a year and led the sales charts. on both sides of the Atlantic. To these data, Sony Music adds another no less important: he is the artist from this country with the most number 1 singles, since he accumulates a total of 52.
