There have been no last-minute negotiations in the Parliament, nor races in the corridors for last-minute negotiations between the ERC Government and the commons for the Generalitat’s 2024 budgets. But there has been a singular fact: the president of the Catalan Chamber , Anna Erra, a member of Junts, has postponed the vote on the amendments to all the accounts when a Vox deputy, Sergio Macián, was not present in the chamber. This, together with the announcement by the former Junts deputy, Cristina Casol, that she would support Pere Aragonès’ budgets would have caused the budgets to be went ahead to be processed in Parliament. The resulting 67 to 67 would have overturned all the opposition amendments.
Junts is in favor of rejecting the budgets. Erra has not given rise to protests from some of the groups, who have not considered it coherent that the president suspended the plenary session for two hours, until 3:30 p.m., when only one vote was missing. One more minute of session would have been enough.
The president has not consented, relying on the initial schedule forecast, where it was calculated that the vote could take place around 4:40 p.m. But the time is merely indicative. Sources from the Parliament’s Board assure that it is the power of the president.
However, the a priori budgets would have had a short journey if they had been processed, since in the subsequent commissions the numbers would have surely declined, thus preventing them from reaching the final vote of the plenary session in a month.
