The plenary session of the Consell today will remove the director general of Ecological Transition from his position. Pedro Fresco, a person close to the already dismissed Minister of Agriculture and Ecological Transition Mireia Mollà and one of the protagonists of the act carried out by Vice President Yolanda Díaz in Valencia, has been a victim of the renewable energy crisis.

Mollà’s replacement, Isaura Navarro, proposes taking over a key position in her department for the development of these energies in full controversy over the implementation model of photovoltaic plants in Valencian territory.

Last weekend, in statements to the Levante newspaper, Fresco pointed out that “at the most” 2,000 megawatts would be reached with the drive for self-consumption on rooftops, Compromís’ main commitment to photovoltaics. In fact, the following Monday the coalition presented an ambitious plan according to which, with the use of only 40% of the available roofs, up to 14,000 MW could be collected. Some data that have also been called into question in the Department of Territorial Policy and in the socialist group of Les Corts Valencianes.

After learning of his dismissal, Fresco published a tweet on social networks “Eppur si muove” (And yet, it moves) that was quickly answered by the former undersecretary of the Ministry of Agriculture Alfons Puncel with a clear message: “Navarro – the new Minister of Agriculture who replaced Mollà- does not want anyone to shade her like the solar panels that she does not want to install”.

A comment that shows the internal differences that were one of the causes -but not the only ones- of the changes in the Ministry. Puncel announced that he was leaving his position after learning of Mollà’s dismissal, denouncing a purge of his own party.

With the departure of Fresco, there are already five relevant changes in the Ministry of Agriculture after the departure of the minister herself, the undersecretary, the regional secretary for Climate Emergency and Ecological Transition Paula Tuzón and the management of the public company Vaersa.
