Thiago Alcántara’s story at Anfield comes to an end. The FC Barcelona youth player leaves Liverpool at the end of the season, after four years in the red team. This last season, the 33-year-old footballer has only played five minutes, against Arsenal at the Emirates.

Thiago arrived at Liverpool in the summer of 2020, after winning the Champions League with Bayern. In his four years at the Anfield club, the midfielder has made 98 appearances in all competitions, in which he has scored three goals and provided six assists.

In addition, the former Barça player has won four titles in his time as a net player: two League Cups, a Community Shield and an FA Cup. However, his stay at Liverpool was cut short in February 2023, when he suffered an injury in the hip flexor that has prevented him from performing since then.

“Thank you for giving me the opportunity to be part of this great club, city and community. The support I have received from day one has been incredible,” Thiago commented on his social networks.

The Spaniard’s departure joins those of Matip and Klopp, who will say goodbye to Anfield on Sunday, in the last game of the season in the Premier League, against Wolves. The German coach had some words of gratitude for the midfielder: “I know that the injuries have been a frustration for him, but I also know the level at which he has played and it has been incredible. I’ll stick with that. He is an artist of the game who only paints the most beautiful paintings,” the Liverpool manager has declared.
