The Sancho case continues to make headlines. In just 26 days the trial for the murder of Colombian Edwin Arrieta will begin in Thailand, which will have Daniel Sancho’s ex-girlfriend as a witness.
Sancho is accused of premeditated murder and concealment of a corpse, which is why the Asian prosecutor’s office is requesting the maximum sentence. However, the Spanish chef claims that Arrieta accidentally died in a struggle after ending their relationship.
During the trial, which will start on April 9, the accused will have a Thai lawyer, as well as a team made up of Marcos García Montes, Ramón Chippirrás and Carmen Balfagón, who will try to demonstrate the malpractice of the Thai police.
Likewise, Sancho will have a defense made up of 50 witnesses, among whom his ex-girlfriend and his psychiatrist stand out. The latter will focus on the emotional state of Rodolfo Sancho’s son before traveling to the Asian country, since Edwin allegedly threatened the chef with sharing intimate images if he abandoned him.
The defense will also present videos showing that Daniel bought knives and saws for the purpose of cooking. These objects are essential in the theory defended by the prosecution, which states that Sancho took Arrieta to Thailand with the intention of murdering him.
Finally, the prosecution will bring the saleswoman of the department store where Sancho went, as well as the owner of the kayak company and the rental motorcycle company, and the owners of the bungalows where the alleged murder took place.
