The last episode of the podcast section ‘Extraordinary Meeting’ in which Rubén Guijarro has participated sharing the screen with nationally relevant personalities, was celebrated with the journalist and writer Víctor Amela, from La Vanguardia. A conversation that focused on the media and in which the current mayor announced that if he is re-elected, “the next term we will set up a service to dismantle fake news” rumors and false information that are spread, often through social networks , about Badalona.
To do this, Guijarro proposes a public channel accessible to all citizens that serves “to dismantle fallacies” and malicious rumors and that allows a real vision of the information to be given so that “it is the people who make a composition of the place.”
Guijarro did not set aside his self-criticism and regretted that the local public media had so little informative incidence: “we have public television, with the audience it has” and regretted that a public entity like Badalona Comunicació does not have a news portal on the internet . “You can hardly get information if you don’t have a news portal as a medium,” he asserted.
In the reflection with the journalist from La Vanguardia, the mayor longed for the time when the information issued by the city council reached the mailboxes of the 90,000 homes in Badalona, ??in the form of a municipal magazine. “The Bétulo magazine that was sent to all houses”. Although, although today he thinks that “it would not be the way”, he is in favor of looking for a channel so that the information that is generated reaches all the people of Badalona.
