Fair activity has revived after the end of the pandemic and the Premium company, which is dedicated to renting furniture for events, breathes easy after overcoming a bankruptcy in 2021.

The company, based in Gavà, has closed 2022 with sales of six million euros compared to the two million in revenue it obtained in 2021. “We are satisfied with the recovery of activity. Gross profit (ebtida) has stood at 1.5 million euros”, comment Joan Chaler and Jose Leon, CEO and sales director, respectively.

As a result of the pandemic, the company was forced into the contest. Before, it operated under the name JMT Ambiplan and was a subsidiary of the Dutch multinational Boehmer, which accumulated debts of 80 million euros by adding the activity it had in other countries.

Faced with the pandemic crisis and the parent company’s debt (which the subsidiary had an obligation to assume), JMT Ambiplan went into liquidation. It was then that the Barcelona fund Endurance entered, acquiring the production unit for around 3 million euros. “We managed to save 30 jobs and acquire the stock, made up of 200,000 product references including carpets, chairs, stools, tables, armchairs, sofas and office furniture”, recall both managers, who were former employees of the company and are now owners of a small part of the capital, while Endurace is the majority shareholder. After the bankruptcy, the Dutch parent company has completely disassociated itself from the Spanish business.

As an independent company, the company has opened a new stage, changing its brand and starting to operate under the name of Premium. However, it has retained its clientele. “We work for Fira de Barcelona, ??the Mobile World Congress, Port Aventura, Ifema and companies such as SAP and HP”, say the managers, who have transferred the activity to a warehouse in the municipality of Gavà.

The company has also managed to increase the workforce to 60 workers and this year plans to expand the team by 20 more people. “We anticipate billing 8 million euros in 2023. We will open a subsidiary in Portugal and continue to grow with new lines of business, for example, with reusable aluminum modules. We are in the high-end of the sector”, they indicate.

Looking ahead to next year, the company plans to enter the south of France. The growth will be lung, without financing from Endurance, which will remain in the shareholding in the coming years, say Chaler and Leon.
