The demands for marital dissolution presented in 2023 decreased by 10.9% compared to the previous year in Madrid, according to data from the General Council of the Judiciary (CGPJ) published this Friday, which indicates that the drop has occurred in both divorces and in separations and annulments.

In 2023, 6,184 consensual divorces were registered (12.8% less than the previous year), while non-consensual divorces were 4,442, 7.6% less. There were 280 consensual separations (15.2% less) and non-consensual separations fell by 12.6%, to 125. Annulments went from 12 in 2022 to 7 in 2023.

In this way, in 2023 the number of dissolution demands per 100,000 inhabitants in the Community of Madrid was 160.9, below the national average, which was 192.1.

The highest rates in Spain were in the Canary Islands, with 247.3 requests for marital dissolution per 100,000 inhabitants; Valencian Community (223.1); Balearic Islands (213.9); Murcia (204.3); Andalusia (198.9); Castilla–La Mancha (195.7) and Catalonia (194.9).

On the contrary, the lowest rates were recorded in the Basque Country (157.3 claims per 100,000 inhabitants); Castilla y León (158.2); Madrid (160.9); Extremadura (179.4) and Cantabria (184.7).

Furthermore, in 2023, 12,485 requests for modification of consensual measures were presented, 1.6% less than in the previous year, and the number of requests for modification of non-consensual measures was also reduced, 2.2% less.

On the contrary, the consensual demands for custody, custody and support of non-marital children were 22,273, a figure that represents a slight increase, standing at 0.9%, and the non-consensual ones, which totaled 27,280, increased by 3.1%. .
