Lenovo Tenerife announced this Thursday the signing of the Argentine Leandro Bolmaro, who played for Barça and since 2021 has played in the NBA, first with the Minnesota Timberwolves and then with the Utah Jazz. The blaugrana entity also tried to hire the forward without success, although in the technical secretary of the Catalan club his name continues to be on the agenda for the summer, as La Vanguardia has learned.
The new player from the Canary Islands, 22 years old and 1.98 meters tall, can function in various outside positions and has experience in the ACB from his time at Barça. He came to the Barça subsidiary in 2018 and in the 2019-20 season he became a first-team player, among other reasons, due to the long-term injury of the Frenchman Heurtel.
After his time with Barça, he went to the NBA, where he participated in 49 games, combining his presence with the Timberwolves and the Utah Jazz with their NBA G-League affiliated franchises: the Iowa Wolves and Salt Lake City, respectively. Olympian at the 2021 Tokyo Games, he was champion with Argentina of the 2022 Americup.
Leandro Bolmaro was voted the most spectacular player in the Endesa League in the 20/21 season (he was League and Cup champion that year), he started playing for Almafuerte de Las Varillas, in his native Córdoba, and then signed for Bahía Basket , in 2017. A year later he was signed by Barça as a junior and only one year later he made his debut with the first team, after passing through the LEB affiliate.
During his previous stage in the ACB, he averaged 6.4 points, 1.8 assists and 1.4 rebounds in the 15 minutes on average that he had in 50 games played, in addition to being included in the ‘Best Young Quintet’ of the 20/21 campaign. The forecast is that Bolmaro will arrive in Tenerife this Thursday at 10:25 p.m. at Los Rodeos airport.
