The mayor of Badalona (Barcelonès Nord), Xavier Garcia Albiol, has announced that he will request the Department of Health to transfer the Delta Drug Addiction Care and Monitoring center after “problems have been recurring for some time” derived from the proximity of the equipment to an educational center, according to the council in a statement.

Albiol met this week with the school management and has committed to working to find a new location for the health center. The “concern” of those responsible for the school has increased after on March 5 a man fired several shots at another in front of the Delta Center.

The drug addiction monitoring center is located on Termes Romanes street in Badalona, ??right next to the building where the Cultural College teaches Baccalaureate and Training Cycles studies. This center for the care and monitoring of drug addicts offers a portfolio of CatSalut services and is managed by Badalona Serveis Assistencials.

Those responsible for the school have also reported to the mayor other episodes that harm coexistence in the area, such as the movement of vehicles at higher speeds than necessary, fights or the fact that users of the Delta Center enter the school for using the toilets, for example.

Albiol will request a meeting with the Health Minister, Manel Balcells, to convey to him the need to address the change of location as soon as possible. “Although this center has been in the same location for many years, the facts are showing that it cannot continue alongside a school and that this issue must be addressed immediately to find the most appropriate solution,” he added. explained the mayor.
