Monitoring road safety is key to preventing traffic accidents. However, there are certain police actions in this area that can be controversial. This is the case of a woman, who denounces having received five fines in less than 20 minutes last night while returning from Barcelona to Terrassa on the C-58.

As recounted in a thread on Twitter and confirmed by the Mossos, the woman received the first sanction at kilometer 6 of the road for driving in the center lane. According to her version, the woman, after overtaking a van that was going in the left lane and a Catalan police van, remained in the center lane. It was then that the police stopped her and gave her the first sanction for “obstructing traffic” despite being 11:45 p.m. and there being very few vehicles on the road.

After receiving the fine, he continued driving another kilometer – always, according to his version, at a speed lower than the maximum allowed – and, just as he was overtaking another vehicle, the police van appeared again and stopped him again, this time in the same center lane. It was then that he “came down the mosso that he was not driving screaming like crazy and threw open the driver’s door asking me if he wanted to kill him.”

The woman, frightened by what, she understands, was an obvious state of alteration, asked her to “calm down” because “they were the ones who were killing herself, just as they had made her stop in the middle of the highway for the second time.” They seized her license and asked her to follow them by “kicking me in the door.”

Frightened by the violent attitude of the agents, she followed them. “We stopped a little further on, but they didn’t get out of the car. I was behind them for more than 10 minutes,” she laments. To try to get their attention, she put her car in front of the van and moved it to look for a reaction, since they were inside her vehicle with no intention of moving.

The officers restarted and blocked the woman’s car again. “They came down very nervous and very arrogant and told me that they were convinced that she was drunk or drugged.” Her breathalyzer test was negative and at no time did they test her for drugs, although the woman assures that she would also have been negative because she has never taken drugs. At one point she even told them that “perhaps they were the ones who had drunk. One of them seemed high on something,” she insinuates. It was 00:01 and the second fine had already fallen for “not obeying the orders of the agents of the authority in service of traffic regulation.”

Nervous after receiving the sanction, the woman returned to the road. Almost automatically, just 4 minutes later, the agents stopped her again with the lights and alarms on. The third fine: going without the taillights on. She explained that she was really nervous and that she was not wearing the automatic taillight system. It was worth nothing.

He rejoined for the third time. Six minutes later, she was stopped again. Another fine, at 00:11, this time for not having turned on the indicator to join the highway after having been stopped by themselves.

“That’s where the worst of me came out,” the woman blurts out on Twitter. She affirms that she assured them that “it was not going to be like that”, that she “was going to talk to the person in charge of her”, and, after seeing her attitude, she gave them a comb before leaving. The agents took advantage of the driver’s attitude to ensure that she “would also draw up a report for lack of respect and disobedience”, for which she will receive a fifth fine.

From the communication department of the Mossos d’Esquadra it is stated that “traffic complaints are well filed”, although it is also added that the Internal Affairs Division of the Catalan police will open an investigation to clarify the actions of the agents.
