The Spanish Jorge Campillo imposed his law at the Magical Kenya Open held at the Muthaiga Golf Club in Nairobi, thus adding his third title on the DP World Tour, the old European Tour, the first since 2020.

Campillo (36), who faced the last day as the tournament leader, delivered a final card of 66 strokes for a total of -18, which allowed him to finish with a two stroke advantage over the second classified, the Japanese Masahiro Kawamura.

Two other Spaniards, Santiago Tarrío (T3) and Borja Virto (T5), successfully managed to finish in the top five in a tournament that has traditionally had a Spanish accent. And it is that Campillo is the fourth national player to win the title after Severiano Ballesteros (1978), José María Cañizares (1984) and Jordi García Pinto (2013).

“I tried to stay focused throughout the day. I’m very proud of the victory but also of registering my name in the same trophy as Seve Ballesteros, it’s something very special for me,” said Campillo, who as always brought Jesús Legarrea in the bag.
