Rafa Nadal faces the final stretch of his recovery with his sights set on the clay court season. The Balearic tennis player was injured at the beginning of the year in his left leg, having to leave the Australian Open. Subsequent tests confirmed a grade 2 injury to the iliopsoas and since then he has been working to get back on the slopes as soon as possible.
This Monday, Nadal shared an image with his followers on social networks in which he can be seen training on clay at his Manacor academy. The Spanish tennis player has also published another snapshot along with the message ‘C… B… Work in progress’ alluding to his next return (coming back). A message that adds to the one he already published over the weekend along with an image of him training on the covered surface of his academy.
After having to give up the tournaments in Indian Wells, Doha and Dubai, everything indicates that the 22-big champion will return to competition in early April in Monaco, on a surface, clay, kinder to the joints.
The Monte Carlo Masters 1000 will be held from April 9, opening the season on clay that will take him back to Barcelona for the Barcelona Open Banc Sabadell-Trofeo Conde de Godó (from April 15 to 23) in which he will coincide with Carlos Alcaraz, defending champion, and Casper Ruud, who confirmed his presence in the historic tournament on Monday.
After Barcelona, ??it will be the turn of Madrid and Rome before the big event of the year, Roland Garros, the tournament marked in red on Rafa Nadal’s calendar. The Spaniard has lifted the Musketeers Cup no more and no less than 14 times, being the tennis player who has won this recognition the most times.
