Norwegian tennis player Casper Ruud, fourth in the world rankings and finalist last year at Roland Garros and the US Open, will take part in the 70th edition of the Barcelona Open Banc Sabadell – Conde de Godó Trophy, according to the organization.

It will be his third participation in the tournament, and he joins Rafa Nadal (9th ATP) and Carlos Alcaraz (2nd ATP) as the third ‘top-10’ confirmed for the event. Precisely the Mallorcan was the executioner of him in Paris and Alcaraz, who won it in the United States.

The Norwegian made his debut in Barcelona in 2017, at just 18 years old, and managed to qualify to play in the main draw. After overcoming the first round, he fell in a very close duel against the Catalan Albert Ramos 7-6 (6) and 6-4.

In his second participation, last year, he fell in the quarterfinals against fellow Spaniard Pablo Carreño (4-6, 7-6 (8) and 6-3), who later reached the final.

Ruud comes from participating in the ATP 500 tournament in Acapulco, in Mexico, where he lost in the round of 32 against the Japanese Taro Daniel, 7-5, 2-6 and 7-6 (5). Later, in Indian Wells he fell in the round of 32 against Cristian Garín.

The 24-year-old tennis player is one of the most solid players on the circuit and one of the great specialists on clay, the surface on which Godó is played.

In 2022 he won three titles (ATP 250 Gstaad, Buenos Aires and Geneva) and lost four finals (Roland Garros, US Open, Nitto ATP Finals and Masters 1,000 Miami). Throughout his career, Ruud has won nine titles (eight on clay) and has reached number 2 in the ATP ranking (09/12/2022).

The Conde Godó Trophy will be held in Barcelona, ??at the Real Club de tenis de Barcelona-1899, from April 15 to 23, and the Murcian tennis player Carlos Alcaraz will try to defend the title from the last edition.
