In the electric bike industry, folding models are becoming increasingly popular as an affordable, portable and eco-friendly solution for urban commuting. However, the same is not the case in the electric motorcycle sector, as it is still rare to find motorcycles with a folding frame.
But it seems that this trend is about to change thanks to the Colibri team, which has just presented its latest product: a foldable electric motorcycle capable of reaching 100 km/h and with autonomy to travel almost 200 km on a single full charge. from the battery.
The Colibri M22 has been designed by Petre Georgescu, author of the lightest folding bike in the world, the Hummingbird Bike. Conceived to revolutionize urban transport, the M22 is not only an innovative solution, but also a powerful, light and customizable motorcycle. It comes equipped with various accessories to meet different driving needs and promises faster, more agile and more economical commutes around town.
With a modular battery design, under the chassis there is space to locate up to three batteries with a range of about 65 kilometers each. These are 72V and 23Ah batteries and can be recharged separately. The user can choose how many to use at any time and the autonomy of the motorcycle increases accordingly.
The vehicle weighs just 30kg without batteries and is built with a chrome steel frame mated to a 45mm upside down fork and rear monoshock. It comes with a square-shaped subframe and a scrambler-style seat made of leather.
The rear hub motor generates 3kW of power and 186Nm of peak torque. The motorcycle has three driving modes: Eco, Dynamic and Off-Road, which allow a maximum speed of 32 km/h, 45 km/h and 100 km/h, respectively.
The most outstanding feature and its main advantage is its compact and foldable configuration thanks to a hinge system. This allows the user to fold it easily to be able to place it in any corner, reducing the necessary space by more than half. Folded it measures only 90 x 130 cm and we must not forget that it is necessary to remove the batteries for this operation.
The M22 mounts a pair of spoked wheels and aluminum rims with road tires designed for urban commuting. It comes equipped with single disc brakes (front and rear), fenders, and a digital display, among other items.
Those interested in acquiring this new electrical proposal can already make reservations through the brand’s website for a price that starts at 2,650 euros. Series production of the model will begin throughout the month of May and deliveries are expected to begin in August.
