Bisbee is a three-year-old English Setter who recently held the Guinness World Record for the longest tongue. This puppy from Tucson, a city located in the Sonoran desert, in Arizona (United States) has a huge tongue that measures 9.49 centimeters.

Jay and Ericka Johnson own Bisbee, having met him at a “charity auction” looking for a home to raise money for a good cause. “So that night he came home with us,” Jay says. It didn’t take long for the couple to realize that Bisbee had something different.

“When he exercises, his tongue sticks out quite a bit and my wife used to say it’s too long,” explains his owner Jay. At first she considered her to be “relatively normal, but she took it upon herself to prove me wrong and had Bisbee stick her tongue out of her”.

Ericka measured it as best she could while her four-legged friend panted and took the opportunity to send a photograph to her father and sister. It was then that she confirmed that her dog’s tongue was much longer than normal and that she could break a record without a problem.

Ericka commented that Bisbee “looked pretty funny when he was panting.” “I sent a picture of him panting to my sister and dad and I think one of them mentioned it could be a world record,” he added.

This dog enjoys swimming, chasing flies, and taking daily walks around his local area in Arizona. Mochi, a Saint Bernard from North Dakota who sadly passed away in the year 2021, was the previous world record holder, for a tongue of 18.58 cm.

Bisbee was anesthetized to carry out the measurement procedure and now the dog is officially the new world record holder. Curiously, despite having a very long tongue, it is not very noticeable until he opens his snout.
