Two elderly people aged 72 and 73 have been arrested in Mallorca for the theft of numerous vehicles, mostly cars rented by tourists and which were located at points of interest in the Manacor municipality area. One of the elderly was admitted to a residence, from which he left every day to carry out the robberies with his partner.
The police calculate that between them they have been able to rob several vehicles parked at tourist spots in the area by the not very subtle system of breaking the window and seizing the possessions that the tourists had left inside. They worked in areas like Porto Cristo or Cala Varques, frequented by tourists throughout the year.
The alleged perpetrators of these crimes have numerous precedents: one of them has been arrested more than 90 times and the other, more than 80. On a total of 18 occasions they have been arrested jointly. The criminal alliance between the two has lasted for several years, according to the police.
The two men were arrested thanks to citizen collaboration. It was possible to know that both criminals were moving through that tourist area of ??Mallorca aboard a specific vehicle. The same citizens provided the police with several photographs taken while they were robbing one of the vehicles. These photographs made it possible to immediately identify the two men, who already have an extensive police file.
Investigators discovered that both lived in Palma. One of them would pick up the other at the residence and from the Balearic capital they traveled in vehicles to this tourist area, some 50 kilometers from Palma. The intention was to act far from their place of residence so as not to be recognized, something they have not achieved.
After the police proceedings and the arrest of both last Saturday, the two alleged perpetrators were made available to the Manacor Guard Court.
