Bearing the name of Spain and a good image around the world are essential conditions to be named honorary ambassador of the Spain Brand. The King and Queen delivered this Wednesday, in Madrid, the distinctions to new personalities that meet the requirement granted by the Forum of Renowned Spanish Brands (FMRE), which brings together various Spanish companies with international projection. In this edition, new ambassadors have been appointed José Manuel Entrecanales (Business Management), Luis Rojas Marcos (Social Action), Patricia Urquiola (Art and Culture), Carmen Riu (Tourism and Gastronomy), Teresa Perales (Sports) and Begoña Vila (Science and Innovation).
In his words before the promoters of the initiative and the new ambassadors, the King said that “the strength of the Spain Brand is based on leading companies, but also on civil society leaders”. He has stated that he is proud of the “magnificent work of this group of Spaniards who, with their excellent work, contribute so much to reinforcing —and spreading— the image of Spain in the world.” The King has thanked all the people and entities that hold the distinction “for contributing to our country the best of yourselves. Because it is precisely what contributes to making Spain a better country. That is the path”, he concluded.
With this tenth promotion, Spain already has seventy active Honorary Ambassadors, in seven different categories. among them are, in a personal capacity, Ferran Adrià, Antonio Banderas, Rafael Nadal, Andrés Iniesta, the Roca brothers, Isak Anic, Amancio Ortega, Isabel Coixet, Pedro Almodóvar, Valentí Fuster and the entities Cáritas, Fundació La Caixa, National Team de Fútbol, ??Camino de Santiago, Prado Museum and the National Transplant Organization.
Plácido Domingo and Rafael del Pino, president of Ferrovial, also appear on the list of honorary ambassadors of the Spain Brand.
The initiative of the Forum of Renowned Spanish Brands (FMRE) aims to publicly recognize the people, companies or institutions that have contributed the most and best, with their exemplary professional career, to strengthening a positive image of Spain abroad. The distinction has the approval of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, European Union and Cooperation, is granted biennially in seven categories. The accreditation is honorary and requires the prior acceptance of the “Honorary Ambassador of the Spain Brand”, in addition to their willingness to collaborate in FMRE initiatives that strengthen the international image of our country abroad.
