The Vice President and Minister of Education and Universities of the Community of Madrid, Enrique Ossorio, has benefited from the thermal social bonus for “vulnerable consumers” which, in the case of large families -as is the case of Isabel’s number two Díaz Ayuso-, is not limited to any maximum income limit. One reason why Ossorio has defended this aid by being “perfectly ethical” in complying with the requirements set by the central government.
The controversy, advanced by InfoLibre, is that Ossorio contributed in a declaration of assets in the Madrid Assembly a patrimony of more than one million euros when, in addition, he has one of the highest salaries of the regional Executive and amounts to 104,928.60 euros gross. Almost 2,000 euros more than that of the regional president herself.
“I think it is perfectly ethical to benefit from this aid as I do from all the aid that there is for large families. If anyone is envious of large families for these resources, I invite them to be a large family that does very well for Spain”, he has Ossorio was transferred at the press conference after the Governing Council, which was held in an extraordinary way in Collado Villalba.
In this sense, he stressed that “within these aids is the electric social bonus and now the thermal social bonus, which is 192 a year.” The vice president explained that the royal decree law that regulates the latter “is established by the State, Pedro Sánchez, in favor of vulnerable families and all large families.”
“I belong to that group. This is money from Pedro Sánchez, it is money from the Government of Pedro Sánchez, what the autonomous communities do is distribute it among the beneficiaries. Therefore, as long as we continue to be so, I will receive and accept all the aid that they give in favor of large families”, he declared.
For her part, the regional president, Isabel Díaz Ayuso, has defended her vice president, stating that “the Ossorio family has the same rights as the others.” Thus, the president has denied a possible “lack of ethics”, because “it is understood that what the central government wanted is to have a gesture with large families”. “If they were social aid to the detriment of other people, such as collecting a scholarship that another family will not receive,” he exemplified, “it could be immoral.” However, the thermal social bonus “is not the same, you don’t take it away from no one,” he argued.
Ossorio mentioned in his speech the speculation that the husband of Mónica García, leader of the opposition in Madrid, could also have asked for such help.
The regional spokesman has assured that “he hopes it is false”, since this morning the spokesperson for Más Madrid in the regional Parliament energetically called for his resignation, assuring that “there is no greater hypocrisy than saying that when you yourself are benefiting”. In that case, Ossorio has also called for Garcia’s resignation. But not “for having collected the social bonus”, but for “demonstrating that it has no limits to deceive citizens and be hypocritical”.
