The Hate Crimes Group of the National Police investigates a homophobic attack on a young fallero that occurred last morning from Saturday to Sunday next to the Central Park of Valencia, the Headquarters has confirmed to Europa Press.
The event occurred on Saturday night after the young man left the festival that was being held in his commission, the Falla Tomasos, in the Ruzafa neighborhood, along with another young man. According to reports from the commission, while the two young men were returning home, three people hurled homophobic insults at them.
When the two young men responded, one of the alleged attackers would have thrown a bottle at them and right after they began to chase them. Always according to the commission’s account, one of the two victims was able to flee from the assailants, but the wounded young man fell to the ground and was kicked and insulted.
When the other young man returned to look for the victim, he was found alone and unconscious. Later, he was transferred to La Fe Hospital, where he remains hospitalized with injuries to his jaw and face.
From the commission they have launched messages against homophobic hatred on their social networks and the falleros wear a tie with the LGTBI flag as a sign of support for their partner.
On social networks, the mayor of Valencia, Joan Ribó, has shown “all his solidarity and affection” to the young man attacked and added: “València is a diverse and free city and it will continue to be so. Always. I hope that justice acts in a stand with the savages who have done it.”
The Unides Podem trustee, Pilar Lima, regretted the attack and stated: “Another homophobic attack and there are still those who try to hide or silence this reality that we suffer in the LGTBI collective. All my solidarity with the victim and the fault”.
Also the councilors for Equality, Lucía Beamud, and Resource Management, Lluïsa Notario; as well as the deputy of Compromís in Corts Ferran Barberà have condemned the attack and shown their support for the victim
