The leader of the British rock group Cockney Rebel, Steve Harley, best known for the song Make Me Smile (Come Up and See Me), has died at the age of 73 after undergoing treatment for cancer, his family reported this Sunday. .

Harley had been on tour until recently but was forced to cancel his remaining concerts to undergo treatment for an unspecified cancer.

His daughter Greta indicated today in a statement released by local media that her father “died peacefully at home.”

“We know he will be desperately missed by people around the world,” he added.

The musician, a native of London although he lived in the county of Essex with his wife, Dorothy, with whom he had two children, was surrounded by his family when he died.
