In the competitive sector of recreational vehicles in our continent, the use of space is a factor to take into account. And that is one of the great premises of the German brand Knaus, responsible for creations such as the Tourer Van, a motorhome that offers everything in reduced proportions thanks to an original system of modules.
This proposal, built to be as functional as possible on a Volkswagen T6.1 chassis, aims to make the traveler feel at home without the need for a vehicle of enormous proportions. In this way, we will not have to worry too much when driving on narrow mountain roads or when parking.
One of the ingenious solutions found in the renewed Tourer Van is a bathroom, baptized by its designers as Xpand Bath. During the journeys, what will be seen will be exclusively a minimalist toilet and vanity unit, since the shower cabin is hidden under the double bed.
To make it appear and use it, all you have to do is press a button that activates a system by which the edge of the bed rises and a part of the wall is folded to make the module where the shower appear. In addition to the double bed, the motorhome includes another sliding bed for two people that is located above the dining area.
Up to four people can sleep comfortably in the Tourer Van. It also has large windows to be able to contemplate the stars when going to bed. The cabin also has a full kitchen with two stoves, a sink and a fridge, a small living room with a television where you can rest when you arrive at the camping area, and a small table where you can read or place your laptop.
As for its storage capacity, the vehicle has endless upper compartments, small built-in cabinets, space under the furniture and even drawers in its original bathroom. All this will allow us to store absolutely everything necessary during the trip, from clothes to blankets, kitchen utensils, food, sports equipment, etc.
At the rear, Knaus has included a singularity that stands as a symbol of the brand: a garage that is located under the bedroom (in the 500 MQ version) or under the bathroom and entrance (in the 500 TL version). This compartment is large enough for a tent, climbing gear, a couple of inflatable kayaks, or even a couple of bikes with the wheels removed.
The cost of the Tourer Van 2023 starts at 85,000 euros without options, a more than interesting amount for a vehicle with a high technological level and multiple innovative solutions.
