The bailaor Rafael Amargo has been provisionally released this Saturday without bail, although with precautionary measures after being arrested 48 hours ago for an alleged case of drug trafficking in apartments in Madrid. The judicial decision comes after the artist testified this morning in the Alicante courts, where he was transferred with his hands behind his back aboard a National Police van.
According to the Valencian Superior Court of Justice (TSJCV), the head of the Court of Instruction number 2, acting as a guard, has agreed, as precautionary measures, his appearance every 15 days in court and the prohibition to leave Spain. Bitter is being investigated for a crime against public health, another for attack against authority and two more for injuries.
The crimes against authority and injuries come from the moment of the arrest at the Adif railway station in Alicante, for resisting his capture. The bailaor had traveled to the city of Alicante to offer a show in a venue in the center of the city, where he did not go due to police action.
In addition, the duty judge has been inhibited from the proceedings in favor of the Court of Instruction number 27 of Madrid, competent to continue with the investigation, having opened a case for the facts previously investigated, added the TSJCV.
Rafael Amargo’s judicial statement came after almost 48 hours in the cells of the provincial police station of the National Police Force in Alicante. After learning that he was provisionally released, he has left through a side door of the Alicante courts to avoid journalists.
The one in Alicante has been the second arrest of the artist, a 48-year-old from Granada, for similar acts, since in December 2020 the Police attributed a crime against public health for which the Prosecutor’s Office asks him for 9 years in prison. The bailaor’s trial is scheduled to take place in Madrid in June of this year.
