Historically, the Camp Nou has been a particularly difficult field for Real Madrid, but on their last visits the white team has almost always left with a smile. The Barça players have in their boots to leave the League practically sentenced and for this they must reverse the negative trend in the previous visits of the eternal rival.

The azulgrana team have not beaten the madridistas in their fiefdom for four seasons, in 2018-19, when they took the three league points with a resounding 5-1. Since then, the Catalan team has won two draws and suffered two defeats against a Madrid team that has accumulated its best league streak at the Culé Coliseum.

Of the last seven league classics at the Camp Nou, Madrid have scored 12 of 21 points (three wins, three draws and one loss), a streak only equivalent to the one achieved by the Madrid team in the 1960s. From 1963 to 1965 the meringues won three games in a row at the current Barcelona stadium, something they could match this Sunday if they take all three points.

Last season Madrid won with goals from Alaba and Lucas Vázquez (1-2), while in the previous season, 2020-21, they took the three points, again in the first round, with goals from Valverde, Sergio Ramos from a penalty and Luka Modric (1-3). On December 18, 2019, the Camp Nou spectators did not see goals in the classic league (0-0).

The current streak without losing for Madrid in Barcelona territory began in the first leg of the Copa del Rey semifinals of the 2018-19 season. The white team drew a valuable draw (1-1), in a match with goals from Lucas Vázquez and Malcom, but was eliminated in the second leg at the Bernabéu after losing conclusively (0-3).

In the last ten games at the Camp Nou, the white team has won four times, drawn four times and only lost two games. The first of these defeats occurred in the 2014-15 season, that of Barca’s second treble with Luis Enrique on the bench. Barça won with goals from Mathieu and Luis Suárez and put the league title on track (2-1).

After that disappointment in the 2014-15 season, Chamartín’s team went four games without losing at the Barça stadium: two victories, one in the League (1-2/ 2015-16) and another in the Super Cup (1-3 / 2017-18), and two draws, both in the league competition (1-1/2016-17 and 2-2/2017-18).

For his part, Xavi Hernández has played five games against Madrid since he took over the blaugrana bench with a balance of two defeats and three wins, two of them in the last clashes in the Saudi Arabian Super Cup and in the first leg of the semifinals of the Cup at the Bernabéu. The return of the tie will be on April 5 at the Camp Nou, where the man from Egar has not yet faced Madrid as a coach.

Madrid went 20 years without winning at the Camp Nou, between 1983 and 2003, and once broke that losing streak, with goals from Roberto Carlos and Ronaldo Nazário (1-2), their record at the Barcelona stadium is 10 defeats , nine draws and nine wins in 28 games.
