Indie roots, unprejudiced pop packaging and a certain tendency to dance. Juegos de Invierno, the second album by the band Brizna, is more compact and daring than their debut Cuatro partes (2020), an album that they could never present due to the pandemic.
This week the group has presented Mendieta (Magenta Music – Altafonte), the first single from their new album, which they will premiere at a concert this Saturday, March 25 at the Laut venue in Barcelona, ??in which they will propose a more open and guitar-like sound.
“Mendieta means excess, party, purge and redemption. It is the perfect summary of the group live. It is the desire not to let the party die and, incidentally, their personal tribute to A Good Day by Los Planetas”, they explain.
The band born in 2019 in Barcelona was the result of a moment of reunion and precious complicity between the musicians Guillem Mora (bass and keyboards), Javier Vilarrubias (guitar), Cristian Cuesta (drums) and Ninu López (vocals and guitar).
Winter Games, which is about to see the light, reflects “the urgency of youth and the anxiety that compels a generation that has grown older without realizing it,” say the members of Brizna.
“An invisible thread. Purge, rage and nostalgia. An eternal desire to walk between the shadows of the end of the cycle and the light of a new stage. Loss, change and the need to meet are the focus of our lyrical universe. Brizna is desire to continue and change itself”, they add.
