Más Madrid is competing in the municipal elections on May 28 with the commitment that the city will have one tree for every seven meters in all the streets of the capital. The spokesman for the municipal campaign of Más Madrid al 28M, Eduardo Fernández Rubiño, has advanced it, coinciding with Tree Day.

From the Paseo de Recoletos, Rubiño has defended a change of course before the policy of the municipal government of José Luis Martínez-Almeida, whose “war against the trees” in this term has resulted in the loss “of more than 68,000” copies in the city.

There are several green proposals for Más Madrid, but the one presented today focuses on the commitment that the city “have a tree for every seven meters in its streets, in all its streets, regardless of the neighborhood” based on an agreement with organizations such as Greenpeace and which also implies acceptance of the “3/30/300 rule”.

“Adapt to the 21st century, live with cleaner air, get there faster, have neighborhoods with less noise and more life. It’s what we want. That’s why we propose natural, healthy streets, with universal accessibility, that connect the city’s green spaces and that make it possible to combat climate change,” says Más Madrid in its program.

The formation wants to champion “a medium-term transformation of the city streets to form a network of streets connected to green areas, which prioritize renaturation, natural and draining surfaces, active, pedestrian and cyclist mobility, public transport , and the connection of the city with peri-urban and metropolitan natural areas”.
