The Generalitat Valenciana has assumed the guardianship of the two children of the young woman who, being a minor under the guardianship of the Valencian administration, suffered sexual abuse by the ex-husband of the former Minister of Equality and Inclusive Policies, Mónica Oltra, according to what Europa Press has learned from sources familiar with the decision.
The children, aged six months and two years, after an action in coordination with the Juvenile Prosecutor’s Office, are in a reception center of the Generalitat, according to the sources consulted.
The situation occurs after, at the beginning of this year, the youngest of the brothers, six months old, tested positive for cocaine, which is why he had to be admitted to a hospital. The 20-year-old father was arrested and released with precautionary measures, which included the suspension of the right to exercise custody and the prohibition of visiting the child.
The vice president of the Council and councilor for Equality and Inclusive Policies, Aitana Mas, then stated that the protocol established in relation to the baby had been followed and that Social Services and the Office of the Prosecutor for Minors would act next.
At that time, according to published information, the mother of the two minors, who no longer had a relationship with the father, was not with the children since they were with the father and his relatives, who had taken care of him when last summer , from Social Services, was alerted to a possible lack of protection.
Specifically, it emerged that the Juvenile Prosecutor’s Office had opened a file for the possible situation of lack of protection of the young woman’s first child, who was the victim of sexual abuse by Oltra’s ex-husband, sentenced to five years in prison for these events, a sentence appealed. on appeal before the Supreme Court.
From the Ministry of Equality -when it was still directed by Oltra-, suspecting that the baby could be in a situation of vulnerability, it began the procedures and informed the Public Ministry so that it could be investigated, for which the Prosecutor’s Office He opened a file, a normal procedure when reports are requested to verify the situation.
The alert for the possible situation of lack of protection of minors began as a result of the conclusions of a report by the Mancomunidad de la Ribera Alta. So, based on the information collected, it was not suggested that the child was in a situation of vulnerability.
