The Government delegate in Madrid, Mercedes González, reported this Thursday that since the implementation in February 2022 of the Action Plan against youth gangs in the town of Parla, 5,507 people have been identified and 34 arrested in the city.
This was highlighted this Thursday after presiding over the local security board of Parla together with the mayor of the town, Ramón Jurado (PSOE), in one of his last acts in his position as Government delegate in Madrid, before his next appointment as Director General of the Civil Guard.
“The result is very positive. The activity of these gangs has been considerably reduced. From February 2022 to February 2023 we are talking about 5,507 people identified in Parla and 34 detainees, which is almost three a month,” González insisted in the press conference after the local security meeting.
In addition, after more than a year of implementation of the aforementioned violent youth “anti-gang” plan, a total of 33 weapons have also been requisitioned and 218 drug acts have been carried out.
Regarding the future of this plan, which in addition to Parla, extends to Madrid capital and other municipalities in the region, such as Alcorcón, Leganés or Alcobendas, where a greater presence and activity of these gangs has been detected, González has assured that, in moment, and despite the good results, it will be “permanent”.
Lastly, in addition to controlling the members of the gangs, the government official recalled that they also work on prevention in schools, so that last year the talks in Parla on the youth gangs of the Master Plan for Coexistence and Improvement of Security in Educational Centers and their Environments.
Throughout 2022, 84 talks were given to students, teachers and AMPAs in the city, they have pointed out from the Government Delegation, where they highlight the work of these talks in schools for students, teachers and parents, and with the agents of the Tutor Police , monitoring minors related to these groups and transferring the information to their schools and parents.
