“NASA has chosen the image from the series I made in Lluçanès on the solar halo and fog, published in Las Fotos de los Lectores de La Vanguardia, for its daily Instagram story”, highlights Emili Vilamala, author of the image .
The photographer published on March 21st in La Vanguardia the report When the solar halo beats the fog, with some snapshots taken in Sant Agustí de Lluçanès (Osona).
“One of the photographs from the series published in La Vanguardia that I took in Lluçanès has been chosen by NASA,” reports Vilamala with satisfaction.
In his report, Vilamala detailed the environment in which the series of photographs were taken: “Sant Agustí de Lluçanès has the Santuari dels Munts as its highest point, with 1057 meters, and it is an excellent viewpoint”.
The optical halo effect is caused by ice particles suspended in the troposphere that refract light, generating a spectrum of colors around the moon or sun.
Last September, NASA highlighted another photographic report from Las Fotos de los Lectores de La Vanguardia, entitled Six minutes of exposure to lightning, the work of Marc Sellés.
This other photograph included the spectacular moment in which Sellés captured with his camera from Manlleu, also in Osona, a storm that was kilometers away, “near Carcassonne, in France.” But it could be observed from various points in Catalonia.
