The Balearic Islands are known worldwide for their beaches. Anyway, in recent years, they are also positioning themselves as a tourist destination for cyclists. In this article we present some of the most beautiful roads and areas to cycle through Mallorca.

Without a doubt, this is one of the most iconic roads in Mallorca. In itself, the itinerary is spectacular, but there is a very peculiar point. In one of its curves there is a “tie knot”, a rare piece of engineering.

In fact, calobra means snake, representing the sinuosity of the road.

From Palma, the Coll de Sóller has multiple horseshoe curves. Despite not being a very demanding ascent, without large percentages, the route invites you to feel like a true professional climbing the Stelvio Pass or the Coll de la Gallina.

In addition, the road has little traffic, thanks to the tunnel opened in 1997. For cyclists, a fact like this is always another incentive.

Located in the extreme northeast of Mallorca, this area is pure cycling poetry. Specifically, the 15 kilometers before reaching Far de Formentor are something completely magnificent. The variety of terrain and vegetation lead to this recognizable naval landmark.

The area has many similarities with Cap de Creus, located in the northeast of the Peninsula, although each one has its own particular attractions.

The Serra de Tramuntana is home to beautiful roads. For example, the coastal itinerary between Banyalbufar and Andratx, with narrow and irregular asphalt at some points, becomes a must for pedal lovers.

It is the highest point. Despite the fact that it cannot be crowned in its entirety, since the last stretch is inside a military compound, it can reach 870 meters of altitude, making it the highest mountain pass in Mallorca.

Beyond these proposals for Mallorca, there are also other magnificent routes in the Balearic Islands. Despite having fewer paved kilometers, the routes through Menorca, Ibiza and Formentera offer spectacular landscapes, so you can enjoy the Mediterranean climate on two wheels.
