The reactions to the return of Clara Ponsatí and her subsequent arrest have not been long in coming. The deputy secretary general and spokesperson for ERC, Marta Vilalta, has celebrated the return from exile of former Minister Clara Ponsatí with a tweet on her Twitter account where you can read: “Welcome home”. “Always in defense of rights and freedoms for everyone!”.

It has been a reaction similar to that of the former president of the Parliament of Catalonia, Carme Forcadell. The one who was one of those imprisoned for the events of 1-O has indicated: “Welcome to your home, in your country. By your side, Minister”.

For his part, Oriol Junqueras, president of ERC and one of those convicted in the cause of the process, stated that “I am personally pleased that Minister Clara Ponsati, a member of the government of October 1, can return to Catalonia. In defense of our rights civil and political, to combat repression, and for the right to self-determination, we continue!

On the other hand, the former president of the Generalitat, Carles Puigdemont, with whom Ponsatí has ??shared residence outside of Spain for the last five years, has assured on his twitter account that “arrest is illegal, but in Spain the rule of law matters more very little”.

The candidate for mayor of Barcelona for Junts, Xavier Trías, greeted Ponsatí’s arrival in Barcelona: “Welcome Minister Ponsatí, welcome to Barcelona, ??welcome to your home”.

For his part, the General Secretary of Junts per Catalunya, Jordi Turull has expressed “all his support for Minister Clara Ponsatí in her decision to return to Catalonia, a decision framed in intelligent confrontation”

The Catalan National Assembly, the Consell per la República and Òmnium have called a rally before the Ciutat de la Justicia in l’Hospitalet to which the former minister has been transferred and where she is testifying before the judge. It is expected that once the statement is completed, he will be released.

For his part, CUP deputy Xavier Pellicer celebrated the return to Catalonia of the former Minister of Education and current MEP Clara Ponsatí. At a press conference, he has “welcomed” Ponsatí and has indicated that he has “parliamentary immunity”, although “an arrest warrant weighs on her.”

After learning of the arrest, the deputy of the same group, Carles Riera, has sent a message on his networks stating that the “Mossos violate Clara Ponsati’s parliamentary immunity and detain her at Llarena’s orders.” The deputy asks President Aragonès and the Minister of the Interior for responsibilities and wonders. “Will you assume responsibilities and reverse this violation of democratic rights?”

Ciudadanos has not been slow to react to the presence of Clara Ponsatí in Spain and with the label “They will not silence us”, its leader in Catalonia, Carlos Carrizosa has indicated on Twitter that the cause of the return of the pro-independence MEP has been the recent ” decriminalization of sedition” that the Government of Pedro Sánchez and ERC have promoted in the Congress of Deputies.

“Ponsatí will only be tried for disobedience. Thanks to Sánchez and the PSC, the totalitarian geeks return as heroes and ordinary citizens, always to pay and suffer. Ciudadanos denounces it and that is why we bother,” Carrizosa wrote on the social network.

In a more circumspect tone, the president of the PP of Catalonia, Alejandro Fernández, told La Vanguardia that “now is the time for the rule of law and for justice to do its job.”
